Grotesque Beauty was an original typeface I designed, inspired by the art of contortion and the human form. I did the first version in 2010 with watercolor pencils. In 2015, I began work on a second, simple hand-drawn version of the typeface, aiming to represent a complete set of alphabetical characters.
As part of the process, I do a lot of research, including yoga, gymnastics, ballet, and modern dance, in order to capture all of the unimaginably beautiful figures the human body can form.
